India, one of the most culturally diverse nations on earth, will soon become the most populous country as well. Historical traditions, including the caste system and women’s second-class position, have consequently placed girls’ education as a low priority. However, change is happening.

Both public and private initiatives are starting to prioritize the importance of raising public awareness, building new schools, improving technology, changing cultural norms, and empowering Indian families, their futures, and their communities. Our story will focus on the lives of two girls as they tell us about their journey balancing home and school commitments and dreaming of better prospects for a community of girls that will follow in their footsteps.
